Founded by Scottish designer Alexandra Ritchie, Alex Ritchie Design is a slow fashion and textile art studio based in France. Trained in Constructed Textiles at the Glasgow School of Art (BA Hons), Alexandra began her practice in 2010 under the name Byloom & Hyde, where she developed a signature approach blending handwoven textiles with reclaimed leathers from former industry suppliers. Her early experiments with wool remnants sourced from local manufacturers led to a distinctive series of pieces that shaped her long-standing commitment to craftsmanship and sustainability.
Today, the studio works under the name Alex Ritchie Design. Remaining faithful to its slow fashion roots, the practice now extends into woven wall art and textile-based fine art, reflecting Alexandra’s fluid movement between weaving, leatherwork, and fashion design. Her work continues to explore the meeting point between craft and contemporary art, balancing material sensitivity with sculptural intention.
Sustainability remains central to the collections, which are crafted using deadstock leathers, wools, and linens sourced in France and Italy. Each piece carries an effortless, understated aesthetic and is designed to last, to be lived with, and to age gracefully.
Handmade in the French atelier, every creation reflects a deep respect for material, process, and timeless design—where each stitch and weave tells a story of considered making, quiet luxury, and enduring appeal.
In December 2025, Alexandra will present a woven artwork at the Salon des Beaux Arts in Paris, marking a new chapter in her ongoing dialogue between art, design, and craftsmanship.

Fondé par la designer écossaise Alexandra Ritchie, Alex Ritchie Design est un atelier de mode lente et d’art textile basé en France. Formée en Constructed Textiles à la Glasgow School of Art (BA Hons), Alexandra a commencé sa pratique en 2010 sous le nom Byloom & Hyde, où elle a développé une approche singulière associant textiles tissés à la main et cuirs récupérés auprès d’anciens fournisseurs de l’industrie. Ses premières expérimentations avec des chutes de laine provenant de fabricants locaux ont donné naissance à une série de pièces qui ont façonné son engagement durable envers l’artisanat et les matières naturelles.
Aujourd’hui, l’atelier travaille sous le nom Alex Ritchie Design. Fidèle à son éthique de mode lente, la pratique s’élargit désormais à la création d’œuvres murales tissées et à l’art textile contemporain, reflétant la manière dont Alexandra circule librement entre le tissage, le travail du cuir et le design de mode. Son travail explore les points de rencontre entre l’art et l’artisanat, alliant sensibilité matérielle et intention sculpturale.
La durabilité demeure au cœur de ses collections, réalisées à partir de cuirs, laines et toiles en stock dormant, sourcés en France et en Italie. Chaque pièce incarne une esthétique sobre et naturelle, pensée pour durer, être portée ou vécue au quotidien, et se patiner avec élégance au fil du temps.
Entièrement confectionnée dans l’atelier français, chaque création reflète un profond respect de la matière, du geste et du design intemporel — où chaque point et chaque tissage racontent une histoire de création réfléchie, de luxe discret et d’élégance durable.
